About the Shelf Indulgence Book Club

“When you sell a man a book you don’t sell just twelve ounces of paper and ink and glue — you sell him a whole new life. Love and friendship and humor and ships at sea by night — there‘s all heaven and earth in a book, a real book.” —Christopher Morley

Self Indulgence Book Club started in 2020 with a couple of friends reading the same books in a similar time frame. We loved books, reading with friends, and wanted a way to discuss these books in greater depth so we weren't pondering these stories in a silo, the pandemic made it especially necessary.

We believe that a well read woman can be a dangerous thing.

Self Indulgence is about community. We value unique perspectives and have members from all over the United States and beyond, including but not limited to: Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico, Seattle, Ohio, and even Mexico. We really bring diversity with age ranges from 20's - 65+. We've grown nearly 30 women strong who participate and really dive into the craft of doing a book discussion justice. We are even fortunate enough to have authors join us from all over the world for some of our zoom chats from time to time. We've have had guests like Samantha Downing, Christina McDonald, Sarah Vaughan, Grady Hendrix, Lindsey Rodgers Cook, Evie Green (Emily Barr), Emily Bleeker, May Cobb, J.T. Ellison, Kathleen Barber, Karen Dionne, Rachel Harrison and more. Had authors answer Q&A's for us like Jodi Picoult. And we even do ARC's as a book club from time to time with authors before launch date. We offer promotional materials such as a curated Spotify playlist to listen to while you read (with graphics that compliment your book), numerous book reviews, recorded meeting and YouTube link, and beautiful recaps from our time with you, when you partner with us.

It's a joy and honor to lead such an incredible group of women.
